Alexandra Orlova is a researcher with a strong focus on political sociology. She has been working at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research since October 2022 — initially as a student researcher and, since January 2024, as a researcher. Her research engages with questions of the integration of migrants and refugees, the interaction of various state institutions with them, and the role of integration policies.
Alexandra Orlova studied sociology at the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She then completed a second master’s degree in sociology at Freie Universität Berlin. Currently, she is working on her PhD in political science at Freie Universität Berlin, investigating the effects of sanctions on political attitudes in autocracies.
Her research interests include integration and social inequality, as well as political attitudes, public opinion in autocracies and propaganda, with a particular focus on Eastern Europe.
