Bridget Collrin is a PhD Candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University and Project Coordinator for the partnership project, Soli*City (Urban Sanctuary, Migrant Solidarity, and Hospitality in Global Perspective). She holds a Dual MA in Political Science from the University of Lucerne (Switzerland) and Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). In her doctoral work, Bridget Collrin is comparatively examining community-based policies and programs that support the housing of precarious migrants in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany. With Soli*City, a SSHRC-funded partnership project led by Dr. Harald Bauder, Bridget Collrin helps to coordinate research activities and outputs on themes of migrant solidarity and urban sanctuary across four research hubs in South America, Africa, Europe, and North America.
During her stay at DeZIM, Bridget Collrin aims to gain a deeper understanding of the multilevel governance dynamics of migration and housing in Berlin. For her doctoral research, she plans to interview city-level policymakers and service providers who work to support the housing of precarious migrants. She is also aiming to connect with newcomers who can speak to the successes and challenges in navigating housing support structures in the city of Berlin.
