She is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the médialab and the Center for Research on Social Inequalities at Sciences Po Paris, and the Institut Convergences Migrations. Her work focuses on migration-related discourses in social and traditional media in Germany and France, particularly examining which actors are active on social media and how their visibility varies.
Katharina holds a Bachelor's degree from Leuphana University Lüneburg and a Master's degree in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po Paris. In addition to her work on the DeFacto research project, where she explored the spread of information and disinformation on migration in France, she has contributed to projects on the fragmentation of the European digital space during the European elections with the Digital Humanities research group at the Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin. She has also worked on research into media portrayals of fertility and demographic change at the Brown Institute for Media Innovation at Columbia University.
