She studied economics at the Humboldt University Berlin and at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. After graduation, she completed her doctorate at the Freie Universität Berlin.
Before joining DeZIM, Dr. Maria Metzing worked on the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and at the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office.
