Executive bodies of the DeZIM Institute

In accordance with its legal form as a registered association, the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) is supported in its work by the General Assembly and the Board of Trustees and is managed by its Executive Board.

 

General Assembly

The General Assembly of DeZIM consists of representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by four ministries and the Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration (14 seats), of the federal states of Berlin, Lower Saxony and Baden-Württemberg (maximum four seats), of the DeZIM research community (maximum 7 seats), of the foundation sector (maximum 1 seat) and of organizations from other subject-specific scientific and practical fields (maximum 1 seat). The General Assembly has the task of adopting the annual financial statements, approving the annual report and annual financial statements of the Executive Board, and discharging the Executive Board. It can decide on changes to the statutes or the dissolution of the association, appoint and dismiss the board of directors and the board of trustees, and appoint the expert auditor(s) of the annual financial statements. An ordinary general meeting takes place once or twice a year.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees advises the Executive Board on the fulfillment of its duties and supervises the Executive Board's performance of its activities in accordance with the Articles of Association. It shall be informed by the Board of Management of matters of particular importance or financial significance.

The Board of Trustees shall decide on the annual report to be submitted by the Executive Board and the annual financial statements to be submitted by the Executive Board. The research program as well as the draft of the business plan and the financing plan shall be submitted to the Board of Trustees annually. The research program, business plan and financing plan shall require the approval of the Board of Trustees. The same applies to the extension or limitation of the tasks and the rules of procedure of DeZIM e.V. and others.

The Board of Trustees decides on the admission of members of the association.

Changes to the statutes or the dissolution of the association by the general meeting also require the approval of the board of trustees.  The meetings of the Board of Trustees take place at least once a year.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of DeZIM e. V. consists of the directors and its deputy. The Board of DeZIM e.V. is appointed by the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ). If a member of the board leaves the board, the board of trustees can appoint a temporary replacement by majority vote until a successor is appointed.
