Social Science College: Prefigurative Practices of Solidarity Construction

Consensus and Conflict Department

Project head: Prof. Dr. Sabrina Zajak

Running time September 2019 until August 2021
Status Completed project

The Social Science Colleges of the German National Academic Foundation enable scholarship holders and aspiring young academics to conduct interdisciplinary research, engage in long-term exchange on specialist topics and receive intensive supervision from outstanding academics. Participation in the research group "Prefigurative Practices" is thus part of the promotion of young researchers at the DeZIM Institute. The Social Science College deals with various prefigurative practices of the construction of solidarity. These include new ideas and practices of democratic participation and horizontal self-management as well as new solidarity practices with refugees and marginalised groups, for example in self-organised camps, neighbourhood projects or political activities. The Kolleg pursues a transformative research approach that involves both exploratory discovery and the collaborative development of prefigurative politics.
