We are pleased to invite you to the launch event of the TRANSMIT Project Report, which presents key findings and the innovative data infrastructure developed during the project (2020 - 2024).
The TRANSMIT project is a joint project of the DeZIM Research community that has received funding from the BMFSFJ.
The report is available here: Transnational Perspectives on Migration and Integration
TRANSMIT combines rich qualitative and quantitative data and methods to investigate migration and integration from a transnational perspective across multiple migration corridors. It sheds light on the structural and individual factors influencing migration, including economic conditions, policy interventions, social cohesion and the role of social networks.
During the event, five experts from the research team will present selected findings from the report, alongside insights into the project’s data infrastructure. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ramona Rischke (DeZIM Institute). Welcoming remarks will be provided by Björn Jansen (BMFSFJ).
Speaker:
- Ramona Rischke (DeZIM- Institut) - Brief introduction of the TRANSMIT project and report
- Lidwina Gundacker (IAB) – Selection effects in and after migration - Syrians seeking refuge in Lebanon, Turkey, and Germany
- Tamara Bogatzki (WZB) – Migrants’ willingness to expose themselves to trafficking to reach Europe
- Laura Hertner (BIM) – Mental distress as a matter of social cohesion
- Judith Altrogge & Philipp Jung (IMIS) – Return and reintegration in the Gambia and Senegal
The event will be followed by a Q&A session, offering an opportunity for discussion and exchange with the research team. The event will be held in English.
