Özcan Karadeniz is Community Outreach Advisor for the National Discrimination and Racism Monitor (NaDiRa) and is part of the DeZIM Institute’s Executive Staff Unit. He designs and coordinates civil society participation and dialogue processes, develops strategic partnerships, and contributes to structures for systematically integrating community-based knowledge into research and transfer processes.

Working at the interface of research, civil society, policymaking, education, and the public sphere, he communicates research findings across different professional and practice-oriented contexts. He also advises on participation designs, access points, audience engagement, and civil society stakeholder structures. His areas of expertise include racism and discrimination, particularly anti-Muslim racism, racism-critical education, civil society participation, and knowledge transfer.

Before joining DeZIM, he held senior positions in non-governmental organizations for many years and taught at several universities. From 2020 to 2023, he was a member of the Independent Expert Group on Anti-Muslim Racism appointed by Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior.
