Former Researcher National Monitoring of Discrimination and Racism (NaDiRa)

Patricia Piberger is a social and cultural anthropologist and political scientist. Since April 2023, she has been working as a research assistant in the office of the National Discrimination and Racism Monitor (NaDiRa). She is responsible for theoretical work and the conception of public events, such as the NaDiRa Lecture Series. She is also a research fellow at the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the TU Berlin.

She researches at the intersection of racism and antisemitism. Her current work explores the connection between racialized political subjectivity as well as (West) German memory culture and activism in the 1980’s and 90’s. She also works on victimhood and so-called victim competition (Opferkonkurrenz) in terms of the history of ideas. In addition to social and cultural anthropology and political science, she studied Indian philology and most recently interdisciplinary research on antisemitism in Berlin.

Patricia aims to explore critical thinking spaces for interdisciplinary research into racism and antisemitism. To this end, she makes use of both academic and non-academic tools. She has taught at the university, designed concepts for lecture series, and translated research literature from English to German. She has worked on exhibitions as well as national and international art-based projects and event series. Through political education, she has also contributed to the dissemination of academic knowledge. Her research has been published in English and German.
