Iepke Marie Rijcken is enrolled as a Ph.D. student at the Department of Sociology and Social Geography, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg. Her doctoral research is anchored in the VISION project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. During her fellowship at DeZIM (November 2023 – December 2024), she works closely together with her VISION colleagues and conducts ethnographic research in the Polish-German border region. In her research, she employs visual and participatory methods to gain a deeper understanding of people’s translocal lifeworlds and cross-border commuting experiences in the Polish-German border region.
Rijcken completed a bachelor’s program in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and a master’s program in Cultural Anthropology both at the University of Utrecht.
