Dr. Kamil Matuszczyk

Dr Kamil Matuszczyk - PhD in political science and administration (specialising in public policy), assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw and researcher at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw. Dr Matuszczyk is a social politician specialising in the study of international labour migration, the domestic care sector, population policy and the labour market. For his dissertation on state policy towards care migration, defended in December 2021 (under the supervision of Prof. Maciej Duszczyk), he was awarded the second prize in the competition for the best dissertation on labour and social policy (Institute of Labour and Social Affairs). Dr Matuszczyk has led three research projects on the problems of employment of foreign workers in the domestic care sector (Germany, Poland, Ukraine) and migration brokers, financed by the National Science Centre (Preludium and Etiuda grants). He has participated in several European projects on the posting of workers (EaSI-Progress programme of the European Union), seasonal migration (The Norwegian Research Council) or irregular migration (I-CLAIM project, Horizon Europe). Since 2019, Dr Matuszczyk has been a visiting researcher or fellow at the Central European University in Budapest, the Humboldt University in Berlin and the European University Institute in Florence.

From November 2019 to February 2020, he was a visiting researcher at DeZIM, where he prepared his dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Magdalena Nowicka. After that, he was an associate at the DeZIM, working on a project on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cross-border domestic care in Germany (CORONA CARE).
