Dr. Laura Lamas-Abraira

Dr. Laura Lamas-Abraira’s academic background has centred on the fields of fine arts and anthropology. On her twenties she graduated in Fine Arts in Spain and in Plastic Arts in France and later on she pursued an academic career in the field of anthropology with a degree in sociocultural anthropology, a master degree in ethnographic research and a PhD in intercultural studies. Her research interest include: migration, care, gender, inequality and public space.

She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Anthropology of the Spanish National Research Council and her most recent project focuses on the (im)material spatial journeys of Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong and beyond. The design of her current research focuses on promoting arts-based participatory methodologies and the experimentation with graphic and audiovisual languages.
