Tatiana Kasimova is a 2025 Elisabeth-Selbert-Initiative fellow (“Human Rights Defenders Fellowship”). She collaborates with researchers from Academic Bridges — a network of Russian scholars opposing the war in Ukraine — on a survey of Russians who have received humanitarian visas in Germany.

This project aims to produce a socio-demographic profile, examine migration experiences and civic engagement of visa holders, and explore the role of grassroots organizations and diaspora initiatives in supporting them. The second wave of the study is currently underway; the results of the first wave are available on the website of the Dialogbüro Vienna.

Tatiana is a sociologist; she also served as an opposition municipal deputy and head of a municipal district in Moscow, and was forced to leave Russia in 2022.
