Rasmus Patton

Rasmus Patton is a technical associate in the “Data – Methods – Monitoring” cluster at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and a Master’s student in Social Sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin. In fall 2026, he is also a Graduate Exchange Student at Sciences Po’s School of Research in Paris.

His research lies at the intersection of political sociology and inequality research. He is particularly interested in how class positions and economic insecurity shape political attitudes and conflicts over redistribution and migration. Methodologically, he works with survey data, experimental designs, multivariate analysis, and mixed-methods approaches.

At DeZIM, his research focuses on the recruitment and participation of migrant populations in social science surveys. As first author, he published an experimental study on this topic in the Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology. He is also a co-author of a mixed-methods study published in Survey Practice on tailored recruitment strategies for people of Turkish origin in Germany. 

In 2026, he presented his research at the Annual Conference on Experimental Sociology (ACES) in Paris and the IMISCOE Annual Conference in Girona. He was also selected for the SPS Summer Academy at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. Previously, he worked at the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM) and taught Empirical Social Research at Humboldt University of Berlin.
