International migration agreements and bilateral recruitment agreements are seen as key instruments for tackling the growing shortage of nursing staff in Germany.
Current developments highlight the seriousness of the situation: videos are circulating on social networks that symbolically show what happens when foreign workers are suddenly absent - empty corridors, abandoned care facilities, care at a standstill. Demographic change, a tight labor market and insufficient numbers of trainees are further exacerbating the situation.
This makes the question all the more urgent: How can international recruitment and integration be made sustainable, fair and humane? What is needed for regulated and fair labor migration? How can recruitment channels be designed to be transparent and based on human rights - and what role do government initiatives such as the "Fair Recruitment Care" seal of approval play in this?
We discuss:
- What are the current challenges in recruiting international nurses?
- What makes for successful recruitment - for employees and employers? What responsibility do the target countries bear?
- What structural requirements are needed for sustainable integration in the workplace?
Guests on the podium:
- Dr. Roland Jopp, Head of the Foreign Experts Division at the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) - on the implementation and further development of the "Fair Recruitment Care" seal of approval
- Daniel Damm Martínez, Talent & Care Fachkräfte-Recruitment GmbH (private recruitment agency for academic nurses from South America and Asia)
- Nils Naumann, Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS), Division I9 Migration agreements, recruitment of skilled workers from third countries - on the role of state agreements and labor market policy frameworks
- Dr. Noa K. Ha, Scientific Managing Director DeZIM Institute
