Long Nguyen is a computational social scientist and research software engineer in the Data-Methods-Monitoring Cluster. He is also a doctoral candidate in Applied Social Data Science at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Sociology. From 2021 to 2024, he was a research associate at the Leibniz ScienceCampus SOEP RegioHub at Bielefeld University.
His research involves applying natural language processing and recent advances in language modelling to social science questions, with a particular focus on adapting methods for large-scale text data from online platforms and extending them through network and spatial data analysis. He also provides methodological and technical support to interdisciplinary teams and contributes to the development of research infrastructure and tools.
