Dr. Aline-Sophia Hirseland studied Political Science, Latin American Studies and Islamic Studies at the University of Potsdam and Free University of Berlin and spent semesters at Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Bolivia. In addition, she obtained certification as a Peace and Conflict Consultant at the German Forum Civil Peace Service (Forum ZFD). She gained work experience at various research institutions, such as the Chair of Sociology at the University of Potsdam, Camino, and the Leibniz Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). Besides, she worked as a freelance consultant for the GIZ and the Berghof Foundation in the field of civil conflict transformation. Her work focuses on diversity, anti-discrimination and integration. Her dissertation at the University of Hamburg examined aspects of the political integration of ethnic and religious groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. Aline-Sophia Hirseland has published part of her work in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. At DeZIM, she is involved in the scientific monitoring of the model projects of the federal program "Demokratie leben!" in the thematic field of diversity.
