In academic and public debates, anti-Semitism and racism are repeatedly linked, equated or juxtaposed. At the same time, there is a growing interest in approaches that take a differentiated look at the differences and points of contact between the two phenomena without creating simplifications or competing logics.
The newly developed exercise "On the relationship between racism and anti-Semitism" is a material-based format that enables political education specialists to explore theoretical perspectives on the relationship between the two phenomena together with participants. The exercise works with paraphrases and quotations from the critique of anti-Semitism and racism and invites participants to discuss various theses in a structured manner.
In the event, we would like to introduce the exercise and at the same time discuss further questions:
How can approaches critical of anti-Semitism and racism be productively related to each other?
Which theoretical clarifications are helpful for political education?
What are the opportunities and limitations of materials used at this interface?
