We welcome Hannes Loh and Murat Güngör, two hip-hop experts who published a standard work in German hip-hop studies with their 2002 book "Fear Of A Kanak Planet-HipHop zwischen Weltkultur und Nazi-Rap". Since then, their work has made a significant contribution to researching the dynamics of hip hop in Germany and shedding light on its role as a driver of knowledge production in post-migrant contexts. Her new book "Remix Almanya - Eine postmigrantische HipHop-Geschichte" will be published on October 4, 2024.

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Ali Konyali and Islem Knani, we will talk about the cultural practice of rap and its aesthetic dimensions as well as the negotiation of language and the position of multilingualism in hip-hop culture. We also want to critically question the racist attributions associated with this art form. Last but not least, we would like to discuss the significance of intersectionality in this context and look at ways of translating these topics into cultural and educational work.
