DeZIM Institute discontinues activities on X

The account will remain active, but no new posts will be published. With this step, the DeZIM Institute is joining an initiative of over 60 universities and scientific institutions in German-speaking countries that have ended their active communication on X as of January 10, 2025.
The background to this decision is the developments on the platform since the takeover by Elon Musk and his growing political influence. The owner uses X specifically to spread far-right positions and exert political influence - including in Germany.

With the withdrawal of X, the DeZIM Institute is sending out a signal: The current orientation of the platform is at odds with the institute's core values. The DeZIM Institute stands for openness to the world, scientific rigor, transparency and objective, democratic discourse. The algorithmic amplification of right-wing populist content and the restriction of organic reach on X make further use of the platform unjustifiable.

This decision only affects the X account. The DeZIM Institute's communication via other social media channels remains unaffected. Content from the Institute will continue to be available via the website as well as on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Bluesky.
