The DP-R|EX project – Data Portal for Research on Racism and Right-Wing Extremism – is a collaborative project between GESIS, Qualiservice at the University of Bremen, the Hans Bredow Institute, and DeZIM.fdz. The aim of the project is to improve the research data infrastructure for research on racism and right-wing extremism, which is equally relevant both scientifically and socially. DeZIM.fdz participated in the following subprojects: (1) The (further) development of the metadata schema for racism and right-wing extremism research, which forms the basis for the subject-specific data registry established at GESIS. The metadata for thematically relevant studies from the DeZIM.fdz database were transferred to the data registry. (2) Joint development of processes with the network partners for the federated archiving and transfer of data for research on the impact of discrimination and racism. (3) Support for public relations work for the data portal in order to increase visibility in the research community, but also in the communities affected by racism, on the impact of racism and discrimination. Particular attention was paid to the development of a so-called “Data Explorer,” which allows interested users to easily generate uni- and bivariate distributions from specific data sets from racism and right-wing extremism research themselves, without any prior knowledge of statistics.
