Project description:

In each of the seven founding institutes of the DeZIM community (BIM, IAB, IKG, IMIS, IntZentIm, MZES, WZB) a research networking position was located during the project period. Together, the post holders worked on the consolidation and professionalisation of the cooperation between these founding institutes. Particularly close communication among each other and a special position as a link between the respective institutes of the DeZIM community and the DeZIM Institute were characteristic features of the DeZIM networking positions.

The primary goal of the research networking centres was to promote cooperation within the DeZIM community. Research gaps were to be identified, research competences bundled and duplication of research avoided. Another core task was to enable communication within the DeZIM community through the intensive and systematic exchange of research-related information. In order to achieve sustainable networking of migration research in Germany and beyond, this already began at the level of doctoral students, for which, in addition to other formats, an annual DeZIM doctoral students' conference took place. In addition to these overarching project goals, the transfer of research content to the relevant departments of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) was the focus of the work of the research networking centres.

Participating partners: German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM Institute); Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM), Institute for Employment Research (IAB), Institute for Conflict and Violence Research (IKG), Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), Interdisciplinary Centre for Integration and Migration Research (InZentIM), Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), WZB Berlin Social Science Center

Funding: Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (Third-party funding)
