Project description:
The pilot project aimed to prepare a large-scale research project that follows, documents and analyses processes of migration from countries of origin; from the country of origin to the route to integration in the destination countries and their societies under social, economic, political and cultural aspects. At the same time, the political, economic, social, discursive and legal changes of the countries of origin, transit and host / destination countries as well as political, economic, social, discursive and legal effects of e.g. transnational relations are analysed. Remigration, circular migration or post-migration mobility. In order to capture such complex processes, a multi-local, multi-methodological as well as an interdisciplinary research approach is required.
In the pilot project, research perspectives from sociology, political science, psychology, geography, history, cultural studies and economics were used to design questionnaires, conceptualise regional case studies and conduct the data analyses.
The main focus of the project was to collect and analyse new data in countries of origin, transit and destination, which provide a unique basis to provide evidence for the themes outlined above. The basic idea and method followed a combination of the ethnosurvey model (Massey & Zenteno 2000) and regional case studies.
