The Power of Stereotypes

Data-Method-Monitoring Cluster

Project head: Dr. Susanne Veit

Project team members: Long Nguyen

Running time January 2024 until December 2025
Status Current project

This project examines the content and impact of ethnic stereotypes, with special attention to the intersection between ascribed ethnicity and gender.

It aims to utilize and systematically compare different methodological approaches. Alongside the capture of stereotypes using closed scales that measure classic psychological stereotype content models, indirect measurement methods (e.g., Implicit Association Test (IAT)) as well as open response formats will be employed. In analyzing the open response formats, both manual and automated coding procedures will be utilized. Regarding the impact, the study is interested in attitude measurements in surveys, outcomes of field experiments, registry data, and indirect measurement methods.
