Who stands up against racism?
Characteristics and dynamics of anti-racist mobilisation in Germany
Consensus and Conflict Department
Project head: Dr. Elias Steinhilper

In Germany, people have been standing up against racism for decades. However, the intensity and discursive resonance of recent anti-racist mobilisations are of a new quality. The increasing importance of anti-racist mobilisations has not yet been reflected in a systematic analysis that allows us to assess their characteristics and social consequences. Against this background, the project investigates who is engaged in anti-racist mobilisation in Germany, what factors this depends on, and how anti-racist mobilisations differ from mobilisations on other social issues. Methodologically, the project is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, including survey data from the DeZIM-OAP and the NaDiRa.panel.
