Within the structure and objectives of DeZIM, the Research Data Centre (DeZIM.fdz) plays a central role: it guarantees a high-quality, sustainable and secure data infrastructure on the basis of which future research can be built and evidence-based policy advice can be provided. In setting up and operating the data archive, DeZIM.fdz is guided by the premises of existing research data centres accredited by the German Council for Social and Economic Data (RatSWD) and primarily archives data sets from the DeZIM Institute and the DeZIM research community. Furthermore, DeZIM.fdz will provide support for DeZIM staff, be it in questions of data collection or the subsequent archiving of research data. In addition, DeZIM.fdz offers support for data analysis issues, for example by offering seminars and colloquia by internal and external specialists. Finally, the DeZIM.fdz offers an online access panel, the DeZIM Panel, an infrastructure that enables short-term surveys in a permanently existing group of respondents by researchers from the DeZIM Institute, the DeZIM research community, the BMFSFJ and external researchers.
