Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM)

The Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM) is an interdisciplinary research center at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. It was founded in 2014 and examines questions of integration and migration in a broader context by looking at modern migration societies as a whole.
It is headed by Prof. Dr. Aileen Edele and Prof. Dr. Pauline Endres de Oliveira. The BIM researches the dynamics of migration, integration, inclusion and exclusion in post-migrant societies. It examines how integration and migration processes have taken place in Germany and Europe to date and how they will develop in the future. The focus is always on society as a whole. The BIM combines empirical basic research with theories of migration and integration research and is divided into eight departments that conduct research on topics such as "Integration, social networks and cultural lifestyles", "Education and integration", "Labor market, migration and integration" and "Integration, sport and soccer".
