Affective and Emotional Transnationality
Untertitel: Connectivity in Processes of Transnational Migration
AutorInnen: Albrecht, Yvonne Publikationsjahr: 2024
Studies on transnational migration have so far neglected the systematic analysis of emotional and affective aspects. This paper argues that emotions, feelings, and affects are phenomena sui generis in processes of transnational migration, and generates the concepts of affective and emotional transnationality. These definitions are based on Faist et al.'s (2014: 12) definition of transnationality as “the extent of connectivity of individuals and groups across nationstate borders” and expands it. The article argues that this connectivity is always linked to emotional and affective aspects.
