The Racism Monitor (NaDiRa) represents a central project of the DeZIM Institute, which is financed by project funds of the BMFSFJ and commissioned by the Bundestag. The aim is to lay the foundation for a permanent monitoring of racism in Germany. For this purpose, reliable statements on the causes, extent and consequences of racism are to be made on the basis of different data sources in order to be able to develop measures on how racism can be countered. Essential components are both the investigation of the perspectives of the population as a whole and of those affected by discrimination, which in turn will be supplemented by an analysis of the counselling structures. For this project, a civil society accompanying process has been established in which various actors, associations and federations of civil society as well as especially of communities affected by racism are involved in the construction of NaDiRa in order to ensure the respective expertise and their necessary knowledge for high-quality research. The interlocking of the different research perspectives as well as the multi-methodological and interdisciplinary research approach represent a novelty in the quantitative recording of racism in Germany.
